First we have Elijah checking his owner's blood sugar, now we have Blackie taking care of Charles. Cats rule!

Interesting story. I've heard several accounts of animals that will sense medical emergencies, like seizures, before they happen. It gives their owner time to react and intervene, thereby avoiding a serious medical emergency.

I think Blackie must be hearing a change in his owner's breath sounds that are a subtle indicator that trouble is on the way. It's great that he figured out he needed to wake his dad.

This is a neat story and a prime example of win-win. Much has been written about dogs with special senses, but almost nothing about cats. There must be all sorts of animals who could be helpful with medical conditions.

I'm sure that there are many more diseases our pets can detect. We just have to learn to read the animals signs.

It's amazing that the cat does this without training. Animals have natural abilities that in some cases we are only just beginning to understand.

It's great to see a rescue animal find a home and a purpose. I wish more service organizations would look at rescues rather than breeding.

I just finished reading the article about the cat who could sense and alert to the owner's blood sugar levels. This is certainly in a similar vein, so it is not surprising. Animals are much more attuned to body chemistry changes than humans.

I think pets who are rescued spend their lives giving back to their owners - that sure seems to be the case with Blackie.

Some pets are closely attuned to their owners. Once when I came home from an angioplasty procedure, my kitty, Pepper, climbed up onto the bed and laid down directly over where the shunts had been placed. I guess she figured her warmth would help me heal faster.
