AUSTIN, Tx. - Luis Jimenez is in prison after a stash of child porn belonging to him was found in his former apartment. But an unusual game of cat and mouse led to the discovery of his crime.

Amy Spencer recently moved into the Hunterwood Apartments in Austin, Tx. When looking for extra storage space, she noticed her cat, Sophie, was pawing at something above the cupboards.

Spencer says a friend who was helping her unpack climbed up to see what the cat was focused on. Sophie found seven unmarked DVDs.

Each contained graphic scenes of young girls performing sexual acts on adult men.

Sgt. Patrick Cochran of the Austin Police Department said he was surprised at the quantity of videos. Normally, a suspect will have one or two video files on a computer.

Following her discovery, Spencer handed the videos over to apartment management, who then contacted Austin police. The guilty party, Luis Jiminez, was traced via an email address he left with management when he moved out.

Upon his arrest, Jiminez admitted the videos were his. Authorities found one more downloaded on his computer.

But none of this would have been possible had it not been for one curious cat and her conscientious owner.

Because of the severity of his crime, Jiminez will have to pay the entirety of his $40,000 bail to get out of prison before he is arraigned.
