The companionship these animals provide is just as critical as the physical assistant. Wonderful program.

So true. Or furry friends are indeed loyal creatures AND they are probably anti-union. Long hours, No pay, just a little love.

I love these type of stories, Although I think they should get puppies from Shelters and then train them.

The training these dogs go through is hard and I applaud the trainers for the amount of time and patience it takes. not only does the person get companionship but also a dog that will assist them with every day tasks.
Wonderful organization.

If dogs can so things like this, they deserve a break. Give them their own bill of rights.

Canine Companions for Independence is such a blessing to me. They gave me my current service dog, Jen II, and we graduated February 16, 2008. We just retested today and are now officially a Public Certified Service Team! I can't wait to take Jen to school with me so that my classmates can see Jen in action and learn all about CCI and the services they provide for people like me.

Jen -

Are there any special policies in place at your school that govern service dog use?

Thanks.

I think the dedicated people who train dogs to be service dogs are very commendable. This is a service that is needed and if more dogs were available, more people would be able to live independently
