Boxer Adopts Kid as His Own

DEVON, UK – It’s a heartwarming story about the paternal bond that has formed between two unlikely animals in Britain.

It all started just hours after a litter of three baby goats was born at a wildlife center. The mother abandoned the runt to focus her care on the two stronger kids.

That’s when staff member Elizabeth Tozer stepped in and began hand-rearing the runt, named Lilly.

But Tozer’s boxer, Billy, immediately took the infant in under his wing and even sleeps with the goat.

According to Tozer, Billy is inseparable from Lilly and even cleans the goat’s mouth after she feeds.

Both animals are residents at the Pennywell Farm, and their unique bond has drawn quite a fan following over the last month.

The staff has a keen interest in watching how the relationship continues to develop.

Animals have more compassion and care for other species' babies than people sometimes! That is such a priceless picture. That kid is too cute for words!

How absolutely adorable! I've heard stories like this often, where another animal takes a different animal under it's wings and loves it like it's their own. I hope these two remain buddies for a long time!

This happens more often than people think. It seems animals don't carry the prejudice that humans do. We could learn alot of them.

I love this story..so cute. I have three cats and two dogs. I had the cats when I bought the puppies and didn't know how it would turn out. Well now they are all like one big happy family and the cats wash the dogs, chase them, and sleep curled up together.

I love the interspecies sort of stories like this. I adopted a stray cat who is so friendly with my dogs. She approaches dogs and "rubs" on them, wants to play. She is truly unique. I don't know how or why these relationships happen, but they fascinate me!

Just wondered if there was an update to this story. I think this was one of the sweetest stories I have read. I had a springer spaniel who adopted an orphan calf in my back yard and raised it. What a pair they made.
