I am so glad the money is going where the man wants it to. I am so thrilled for the animals he will be helping.

This is the way it should be. I am guessing there were no children to contest the will. Of course, maybe that it was in a Trust made a difference. I have commented on this before. Trust vs. Will

I think as an owner of pets, we are responsible for at least attempting to find a home or something for them in case you aren't around. I wish that courts would uphold the fact that some people leave their estate behind for the animals. Their wishes should be followed through and not what the court thinks best.

Hopefully, all the wishes that this gentleman put in his will for the three dogs WILL be carried out.

I would want my pets taken care of and luckily I have great children and friends that will do it for free. If not, I would leave what I had, to do the job. That's sad because if they had to live on what I would leave, they would have to probably share one very small meatball.

Thankfully it doesn't sound like there were any kids to contest the will. I found it interesting that the article said the dogs have top notch health care and then immediately mentions that every Friday the animals are treated to a spaghetti and meatball dinner, complete with garlic bread. That doesn't sound too healthy.

These dogs loyalty is being well repaid. It is nice that they have a caretaker who really seems to care for them.

I am in the process of drafting my will. I am 34 and have no plans on going anywhere soon, but want to make sure that things are not left for those I leave behind. A big part of that is ensuring for the wellbeing of my pets. My two dogs were originally my dad's dogs before he passed away. While he had planned extensively for his passing, his pets were not included in those plans. If I had not been able to take them, the two dogs and the family cat would have been truly out of luck! Mary, our cat has since passed away, but I want to make sure that my three cats and my dogs have security if something should happen. No need to add to the trauma of losing their owner and having to change living arrangements by having total uncertainty about where they will live and who will take care of them. I hate to think of them having to go to a shelter.

I often wish that I had enough money to leave for my pets care when I'm gone. My family and I do discuss what will happen to our pets, and who will care for them. I do know that there are shelters that provide care if donations are made, but I know that none of mine would fair well in a shelter at this point in their lives. So, as I age I know I will have fewer, just in case. And I will make sure that they are older, to increase the chances they and I will go close to each other.
