A Whole Art Gallery, Gone to the Dogs?

Browse News

Have you ever wondered what the world looked like to a dog? Well what if "Spot" could draw a picture for you? In New York's neighborhood of Chelsea, there are three dogs who can and they are displaying their artwork at Denise Bibro Fine Art until Nov. 7 along with 40 other (human) artists.

The exhibition is called "Gone to the Dogs" but the artwork is anything but! The mixed media from David Barnett is truly regal and Brooke Jacobs captures the dogs eye view in black and white photos. This showcase is a definite must-see!

Love the black and white photography. Judy A's paintings are definitely good enough to have a gallery showing, and think how much the sale of her work could bring to Butte Humane Society in CA! Judy doesn't need her work displayed/featured in the shelter on a wall--she needs her own gallery showing!

The 3 paintings by canines were tough to get a good look at, but didn't seem that remarkable. I also wonder how the paint was applied by the dogs. Brush, roller, or paint on paws or tongue?

Judy might not be happy with this suggestion of mine as she is taking a break from painting and not taking on any more portrait assignments as she wants time with her family and time to work hands-on in the shelter. I wouldn't want to create more demand for her talents when she wants to slow down (as she wrote in one of her journals). Still, a gallery showing with free will donations to the shelter would increase the visibility and awareness of Butte Humane in CA.

This looks like fun . . . I remember reading about an artist in Nicaragua who was painting or showing a starving dog as art. I enjoy this show much more!

I thought we'd get to see more art done by the dogs, and maybe a little inkling of how they do it ~ a brush in the mouth, paint on the tail ~ what? I've seen a video of elephants painting, but never dogs. I would like to see that.

That sounds like a fun thing to do! But after re-examining the pics in the video, they don't look like paw prints, especially the one that has blue and green tones from frame to frame. I am curious to know how they did that.
