Just maybe God granted Temple Gardin the "gift" of autism in order that she might ease the fear and lessen the stress of members of the animal kingdom. Remarkable woman!

Temple Grandin is one of those people who remind us to respect difference and practice empathy. My students got a lot out of learning about her life in relation to autism.

Temple Grandin is a very interesting person. Her work has helped not only animals but also so many people with autism spectrum and sensory intergration disorders. If anyone has a child with autism spectrum disorder or sensory processing issues, they should look into her books. Her story and the information in them is unbelievably helpful!

THIS IS AN INSIGHTFUL ARTICLE, MAKES YOU THINK TWICE ABOUT THE ANIMALS IN OUR OWN LIVES, AND HOW THEY PERCEIVE US AND THE WORLD AROUND THEM. WHAT CAN WE DO TO IMPROVE THE LIVES OF OUR OWN PETS AND THOSE ANIMALS IN SHELTERS.

WE all have something special in life to do. It is up to us to find out what it is. I believe God will direct us to out paths. Many are to work with animals others not. WE all have something. This was a good story

My son, who is also autistic (Asperger's Syndrome), briefly met Temple at a talk she gave at the University of Missouri, Columbia a few years back. He was really impressed by her talk, and I always hoped that seeing what she could do would influence his own confidence in his ability to make a difference for the greater good, no matter what.

My son is autistic (Asperger's) also. I would love to see her speak in person. I have read many things about her. I liked how the use of deep pressure works to calm people with autism or sensory disorders. Another great book by someone with autism is "Born on a Blue Day". I do not recall the name of the man who wrote it, but it was very interesting and helped give me some insight into the way my son experiences emotions and looks at the world.

Good for her and the animals. If it is indeed true, and even if it is not, she most certainly has been a beneficial in changing some of the meat industry standards.

Bologny. Her affliction has nothing to do with it. Sure you can study animals and learn alot but to claim you understand what they are feeling because of the way you are is just garbage.

Seems like she's doing good work but I am skeptical of anyone who thinks they know this much. She may have done some good things but to think that she can "see what animals see" is a bit of a stretch. She may physically see things but to process the information the way an animal does is something completely different.

So many negative things are written about the limitations of those with autism. What a heart warming article this is and what a wonderful woman able to share her understanding of how animals think and feel with those of us who would like very much to "talk" with our animals!
