Animal Planet Launches DVD Training Series

SAN DIEGO -– The next page in the cause for responsible pet ownership may be found in Animal Planet's new DVD training series.

Revealed at the 2008 Global Pet Expo in San Diego, the series is designed for pet adopters. Two million free DVDs will be sent to shelters across the country by Animal Plant Pet Video.

This is really a good idea, this doesn't just make the pet smarter but it make the new owner smarter and that is the key to a good relationship with your pet.

This is fantastic. Help people learn about the animals they are going to buy or adopt. It will only help . This is good for people and the animals. This is a terrific idea

Watched the video, but can't figure out how to "discuss" it, so I read it as well. Great idea! I'm sure many new pet owners will find the info very worthwhile.

With this prominece on gaining our knowledge through the media, this is a great idea...It would be great to slip it into commercials and cartoon show ads instead of the junk they usually try to sell the kids and elderly. Training through vidoe presentation is wonderful.

When I adopted my dog back in January the shelter had these DVDs. They gave me the one called 'training your adopted dog'. It had a lot of useful tips on training and caring for your dog. I think these are great.

I think it's great that Animal Planet is going to send 2 million of these DVDs to shelters across the country. Does anyone know if this is an automatic thing or do we need to contact Animal Planet to make sure our local shelter is on the list? I'd love to see these DVDs given to everyone who adopts at the shelter.

I wonder what Cesar has to say about this...

I agree that this should be mandatory.. Unfortunaltely I have learned by making mistakes.. nothing bad has happened yet... a few close calls.

What a good idea. Get this into the hands of everyone who adopts or buys a dog. You know, I have always owned animals since I was a little girl. We always had at least 3 dogs at all times when I was little. As an adult I am now in my 2nd ownership of a dog. You can never learn enough! Just like kids. I am on my 3rd child, still learning.....they are all different!

Animal Planet is a very neat show they show all sorts of shows from dogs and cats to the wild chimps and tigers. And now training DVD's what a wonderful idea. I hope these work and can be put to good use for especially those who adopt!
