i love the fact that people are so interested in the animals that our presidents animals get so much publicity. it is someting good to think about and take a break from the worlds problems and shows tht even the presidents are as human as the rest of us

Great story! Everyone needs a pet or two and in the case of the President of the United States - a pet is a confidant, a friend, and an avid listener that you can talk to and they will never tell any of your secrets! How great is that!

I think this article makes you realize no matter who you are, rich or poor we all need unconditional love. Dogs bring such joy and love to so many people's lives. It is very interesting to see how dogs play apart in even the US President's life. Look at the Obamas, it has been all over the news about what dog they are going to choose to be part of their family.

The president's dogs exhibit at the Newseum sounds really interesting. Nixon was well known for a lot but I had forgotten about the dog, checkers.

Things like pets allow us to connect with a high profile figure like a President on a very basic level. No matter who we are, or what our position in life, we all need a little unconditional love and affection. Dogs provide that to each and every one of us - no questions asked. Isn't that one of the main reasons we love them so much?
