Great story! Everyone needs a pet or two and in the case of the President of the United States - a pet is a confidant, a friend, and an avid listener that you can talk to and they will never tell any of your secrets! How great is that!

Well I do hope I see pictures of the Obama dog with it's own cabinet chair. Maybe he/she will go to press conferences too. I'd like to know about the state of the economy as seen thru the eyes of a dog.

Politicians, believe it or not, are people too. People need companionship, and many times this is found through animals.

Being President is not an easy job, and as much a dog can help relieve stress in the average person, I am sure the same goes for a President. A dog just has that effect on a person.

I think this article makes you realize no matter who you are, rich or poor we all need unconditional love. Dogs bring such joy and love to so many people's lives. It is very interesting to see how dogs play apart in even the US President's life. Look at the Obamas, it has been all over the news about what dog they are going to choose to be part of their family.

Things like pets allow us to connect with a high profile figure like a President on a very basic level. No matter who we are, or what our position in life, we all need a little unconditional love and affection. Dogs provide that to each and every one of us - no questions asked. Isn't that one of the main reasons we love them so much?

My favorite: Teddy Roosevelt! His dogs were described as a "pack" that had full run of the house. Was it his dog that ripped the pants off of a British diplomat?
