I just saw a thing on the news about a sheep with an extra leg. I wonder if it is happening more often or if we just hear about it more now.

Poor kitty. I really hope that the operation was successful and she will have a long and happy life. I wonder if she has been adopted? I hope so.

i hope the surgery was successful. It is becoming more common to hear about things like this with the animals. Make you think what are we doing to our environment and how will it affect us as humans too.

Mutations happen in any population. It's a sad but true event. Sometimes its random, more recently there are more caused by all the chemicals people are pumping into the environment. I hope a good home was found.

Starts out with 5 legs and ends up with 3? Hopefully she'll adjust quickly.

I'm sure she will adapt to having 3 legs just fine. I think they should have the surgery first, get her back on her feet in foster care, then put her up for adoption. I would also advertise her story around town

Perhaps the shelter should wait until after the cat's surgery to advertise it for adoption. If the surgery results are successful, the animal might not have any kind of easily detected deformity. At any rate, removing the cat's extra leg is more important at this point than placing it in a home. The story really doesn't go into any detail about the projected prognosis for the cat or how much special care would need to be provided by an owner.
