Great way to send a humane message to kids
posted 5 years ago
The MCHA KIND News program provided KIND News to more than 130 classrooms in Monroe County. Teachers and kids love this supplemental reading material for their classes and it gets the message of kindness and respect toward people, animals and the environment out in the classroom even when we cannot be there in person!
Pros: easy to use, fun to read
Cons: only comes out during the school year

Not so random acts of kindness
posted 5 years ago
I've often thought that part of every child's elementary education should be a class about how to treat animals with kindness and respect, a basic skills class about companion animals' need for love, attention, and basic needs. We teach kids how to care for infants in family skills and Home Ec classes, and we should do the same for animals. Too many kids grow up seeing the dog tied out 24-7 on a chain in the backyard and their conception of animals is divorced from the reality of what those animals actually need to be healthy and happy. So KINDNews is an amazing publication that fills a huge need and is making a big difference at a crucial age for kids and animals alike. KINDNews couldn't be kinder or more called for. It is well-written and attractively designed. But the fact that it exists and is doing so much good is the most important part!
Pros: Teaches kindness to animals at an early age
Cons: Too bad every kid in the world can't have a subscription
