Oxbow Bunny Basics 15/23 Young rabbits need lots of fiber, as well as a good balance of protein and amino acids to keep them healthy and growing properly. Bunny Basics 15/23, which includes energy-dense alfalfa hay, was designed specifically to provide stabilized nutrients to keep young rabbits thriving. This feed also can be used to boost the nutrition of older rabbits with weight loss due to age or illness. Offer Bunny Basics 15/23 in combination with Oxbow grass hays to ensure a healthy, balanced diet for young or active rabbits. Young bunnies have different nutritional needs than those of adult pet rabbits. Oxbow's fresh-from-the-farm Bunny Basics 15/23 fulfills those unique dietary requirements. Always change your rabbit's food gradually to allow the digestive system time to adapt. Some rabbits are resistant to change, so time and patience are needed when switching feeds. Premium Ingredients: • Alfalfa Hay = Beneficial Fiber and Protein • Soy Products = Fiber, Balanced Protein, Healthy Fat • Wheat = Ideal Carbohydrate and Energy Source Why Oxbow feeds? Oxbow feeds contain a 100% complete, quality blends of plant products that support a healthy pet lifestyle. Top exotic veterinarians recognize and recommend Oxbow’s formulas due to their superior nutrition over other brands. Moreover, Oxbow has a rigorous quality control program that assures nutritional and physical excellence. Are all small animal feeds created equal? Some pet feeds contain fats, sugars and starches in the form of nuts, corn, seeds, dextrose and fruit. Animals with a long digestive tract—rabbits and guinea pigs, in particular—are designed to digest acid detergent fiber, not calorie-dense fats, sugars and starches. Oxbow does not include such troublesome ingredients. We focus on providing the right amount and type of fiber, carbohydrates and proteins for each specific species. How do you choose the right feed for your pet? Become a label watcher! The best way to choose the right fortified feed is to examine product labels and make sure to choose those with appropriate nutritional content. Oxbow suggests avoiding mixes that might include troublesome ingredients; opt for a 100% complete fortified feed with stabilized vitamins. Great quality food for young rabbits

posted 6 years ago

We used this for our young rabbit until she was about a year old and then switched her to the timothy based pellet by Oxbow. She loved this food and it is a good quality food.

Pros: Oxbow makes quality rabbit foods

Cons: Hard to find and a bit more expensive

Excellent pellet food for young rabbits and nursing mothers

posted 6 years ago

I feed this pellet to my foster babies and their mom. This is a high quality pellet from Oxbow, and like most Oxbow products, it comes to you fresh and sweet smelling. This is made from alfalfa, so it has more calories and protein than the timothy based pellets. It is an excellent choice for young rabbits and lactating moms who need extra calories for growth and milk production. These pellets may also be used under a vet's supervision for bunnies that are low in weight because of illness.

Do not feed this pellet to your adult companion bunnies. It is too high in calcium and calories for them. Use the Oxbow Bunny Basics T instead.

Pros: high protein, high calories for growing rabbits

Cons: too many calories and too much calcium for adult bunnies
