Best Bedding Ever!!
posted 5 years ago
I was forced to try this bedding because of a pine allergy (and some studies have shown cedar to be bad to use for bedding although I love the smell of it!). It seemed expensive ($5) and took a whole bag to fill my cage. I absolutely love it! It doesn't smell bad as quickly or look as dirty. It absorbs urine much better than wood chips! I did buy another brand of bedding like this from K-mart and it's not the same! It looks/smells dirty and needs changed after just 2 days! I purchase the Critter Care from Walmart. Oh and it's makes a comfortable bedding for my guinea pigs too!
Pros: Doesn't look/smell dirty, Less cage changes, comfortable for animals
Cons: a little more expensive than wood bedding

Decent bedding

I bought this for my gerbils tank when I first bought him and the tank home. I am now using it for both of my gerbils. I love using the blue variety even though it's more expensive as I love the way it looks. I mix it with aspen. When using it on its own, it doesn't hold burrows well and gerbils love making burrows. So, mixing it with aspen helps it hold burrows better. It's less dusty than some of the other beddings on the market. It's softer than aspen, but not as soft as most other paper based beddings (like Carefresh). My biggest complaint is that both times I've filled my hamster and my gerbils tanks, I got a bad headache. I'm wondering if it's causing an allergic reaction. That said, it doesn't seem to be causing one for my rodents at all. I might just stick to aspen, though, if this headache trend continues.
Pros: Comes in colors, soft, no smell, not too dusty
Cons: doesn't hold burrows, pricier than aspen

Ok...

I really expected for the money that it would last longer. Honestly, I find that I need to change the litter more frequently but I suppose it is worth it if it is better for my babies lungs...
Pros: Healthier than wood
Cons: Expensive
