I have always had a stethoscope in the house since my previous cat had a heart murmur and developed heart disease. I have used it several times on my current pets. It can be very handy to have in the house, as it can be used for more than one purpose. I have used it to listen to the cats' and dogs' heartbeats, as well as my rabbit's gut sounds. That was probably the most important use with my current animals because I suspected he might have GI stasis. You never know when you might need a stethoscope to evaluate a pet's health.

This is a basic stethoscope that can be used by anyone. We use it to take vitals when the animals are healthy. That way we have a base line to go by when they are acting sick. We use it mainly on the horses. It is also good for listening to gut movement. I think it is good for everyone to know how to use it and know how their animals are when they are healthy.
