So far we love it

posted 4 years ago

My rabbit thumper was gasping for air with each breath. I was terrified he would die, especially atten years old. I didnt know what was wrong with him and the vet is closed on the weekends. Thumper was fine just yesterday so I couldnt figure out the problem.

At first it was just a little rough breathing, and I thought it was the common cold nd he would get over it. But then it got worse. he could not eat or drink or do anything really because he had to keep stopping to breath. he could not use his nose anymore, he began breathing through his mouth! soon there was a muscus-looking substance coming from his nose.

I looked online and it said rabbits are not supposed to get colds, ever, and that these type of symptoms call for immediate vetrenarian attention. he web also suggested this product. as soon as i put thumper over a steaming cup of it for a few minutes, he ccould breathe! i made a portable steaming contraption with some household candles and used the to keep him over the RX steam , holding him in my alap. now he is ok. hopefully the sickness will go away completely. i will recomment in a day or two...

Pros: starts working quite quickly

Cons: when I move him away from the steam, my rabbit goes back to being congested!

Saved My Bunny's Life

posted 5 years ago

My Lionhead, Kasper, came down with a terrible upper resp. infection, Snuffles. If any of you have ever heard of that, it can be deadly for a bunny. The vet gave him antibiotics. He just got worse and I called the Dr. She was not very positive. She said that when they start breathing through their mouth, that was a sign of pneumonia. He was breathing through his mouth and wheezing, it was so pathetic to watch him and broke our hearts. He was so stuffed up.

I got in touch with the person I bought him from and they were very helpful and told me about this product. I rushed to PetCo to buy it.

Here's what we did: we have one of those potpourri small crock steamers that plug in. We put 1/2 of the bottle of the rabbit rx (it only comes in a 2 oz bottle--so that was 1 oz. and some water into that and plugged it in. Following the directions, we left that plugged in for 1 hour 3 times a day. We also covered his pen with a sheet, and had the 'vaporizor crock' at the one end outside of the pen. The sheet kept the vapors inside the pen and LITERALLY, within 2 days, he was better.

You can use it other ways by putting the product on their nose---but this is a sure fire way to get them unstuffed. I can't say enough about this product--it was and is wonderful.

Pros: ease of putting into potpouri container/smells good

Cons: smallness of the bottle
