I don't recommend alfalfa for any guinea pigs other than babies and pregnant females. Calcium in alfalfa can lead to kidney and bladder stones. I never recommend any hay rack or metal holders where cavies can catch a toe, foot or leg in it. Dangerous for them. Keeps alfalfa clean, but I'd rather replace soiled alfalfa than have a guinea pig with a broken appendage.

This is a fun idea to entertain little pets, but make sure it's only used as a treat because alfalfa is high in unnecessary nutrients. Timothy is the healthier hay for rabbits and guinea pigs.
