We had these for our gerbils. They ate holes in the tubes and would escape. The plastic could not have been good for them to eat. They would make quite a mess all over and the tubes would not stay together well anyway.

We got these for our gerbils thinking it would add some excitement to their cage. It did, but the also liked to chew on it and it didn't last long. Now we just get them out for play time on the floor. That way they run through them and play but don't have them long enough to chew on them. They are great for hamsters though.
