Carpeting as the cage substrate for reptiles is a wonderful alternative to mulch or sand. Sand, small pebble, and small mulch substrate can lead to impactions and obstructions. Carpeting is also easier to clean - - you just remove it, wash with warm water & mild soap, rinse, and replace. It is great to have two pieces so you can let the cleaned one dry sufficiently before replacing. Using carpet also helps keep the cage cleaner / neater as it facilitates waste removal and will not dirty the water (mulch often falls in water and dirties it quickly). My snakes seem to love the carpet!

The is the best sustrate i've used. I love it because it's so easy to clean and cheap when it's time for new.
