Excellent for Lizards

posted 6 years ago

I used this with my leopard gecko. It was really good for him when chasing crickets and getting some of the substrate as well. Because some reptiles can get digestive problems (impacted guts) something that can dissolve into their system is really great. I was very pleased with this product. It also come in a variety of colors to match your animals desired environment.

Pros: Great for reptiles that like live food and may eat some of the sand

Cons: Doesn't work terribly well for reptiles that like to burrow

Good substrate

posted 6 years ago

I used this when my tortoise was inside. It is pretty good. My tortoise loved to dig in it. I liked the different colors because I could change it and it could look differently so it wasn't always the same old boring stuff. The only thing is is how messy it can be. It is sand, so spill a little and you are cleaning it up for months, haha.

Pros: can be eaten, different colors

Cons: can be messy

Not Healthy

posted 6 years ago

This is the worst product for leopard geckos on the market. They ingest it when hunting, they eat it when they feel they need calcium. This can lead to impaction--in young or old geckos-- which can cause death. I have seen it happen numerous times. Contrary to popular belief, leopard geckos do not need to ingest sand to help their digestive system.

Pros: none

Cons: can lead to impaction
