Effective & easy to use

posted 4 years ago

This product is designed to help control common diseases ( including salmonella) of pet aquatic turtles and other reptiles.
I have been using Reptoguard for almost 2 decades. My 22 yr old red-eared slider has benefited greatly from having this added to his water every 40 days or so.
It does not replace the importance of handwashing after handling ,good hygiene in the tank ,and basic necessities such as a good filter, clean water and disposal of waste products.
It does, however ,help condition the skin and shell and discourages the growth of bacteria in the water and on the turtle itself.
It is easy to use;simply remove from the packet and place in the turtle's water habitat. You use 1 block per 20 gallons of water. It will slowly dissolve into the water and will not be removed when the water cycles through the filter.
I sometimes have difficulty finding this product on the shelves. I solve that problem by purchasing multiple reptoguards when available.
The price can run from about $2.39 or so upwards to over $3 per item. In the long run, though,it's worth it.
I have used this product with great results and I highly reccomend it. Especially in view of the pet turtle /salmonella scare that recently happened in the west.

Pros: Easy to use, beneficial to turtle's health

Cons: can be difficult to find, price

Product works well to keep the turtle's pretty healthy but they don't like having it in the tank before it disolves.

Pros: Work's okay.

Cons: Could use some perfecting.
