Great Tortoise Food
posted 5 years ago
Tortoises love this food. If you soak it in water for a few seconds, it softens up and they chow down! But you have to use this as a part of a well balanced diet. They need lots of greens. Eating only tortoise chow is not good for adult tortoises.
Pros: Tortoises love it!
Cons: Can't be the only food given

Good to use for winter!(and summer!)
posted 5 years ago
We have quite a herd of tortoises and turtles(Leopards, Greeks, Russians, CA Desert, plus Box Turtles). Most of our torts don't hibernate and we need to bring them indoors for the winter. This is a nice addition to their meal. It is a good filler with vitamins etc. A few of the torts just don't like it and will not eat it at all. Our Leopards love it (especially the juveniles), all but one of our Greeks like it, the CA Deserts like it (although they hibernate in the winter we use it in summer, too), and the Russians are on the fence about it.
We just like something to be able to mix in occassionally that is different and gives them fiber, vitamins etc.
Our local feed store (Fox Feed in Canyon Country) will order it in for us, then we pick it up there, instead of the shipping charge to deliver to our house.
Pros: great addition to regular diet - easy to store
Cons: some of our torts just don't like it

Good for leopard torts
posted 5 years ago
I have used this with young tortoises. Even the little ones will eat if you soak it first, and sometimes cut up the pieces. The pieces are larger than some brands. I like that it is not dyed a bunch of bright colors, more natural. I usually give once a week.
Pros: taste
Cons: none
