Tender, plump and nutritious, waxworms are a great way to provide more natural diversity to your pet's diet. Come in many quantities. Ideal Temperature, Storage and Maintenance Timberline waxworms can be stored for a couple of weeks if kept at 55° F. This is the ideal temperature for waxworms; however, most refrigerators are a little colder than this. Often, the butter tray on the door of your refrigerator is the best place to find this ideal temperature. It's better to keep waxworms at room temp with low humidity than it is to store them in a refrigerator that is colder than 40° F in its warmest area. Cupped waxworms should be stored in their cup. They have entered a stage in their life cycle where they no longer consume food. They are living off the fat supplies in their bodies. This means you'll see them growing smaller the longer you keep them. Always remove any dead (black) wax worms from the container. It's extremely important that they be stored in low humidity. Finding live waxworms

posted 4 years ago

My leopard gecko is a rescue. She was 3 when I got her, and the only food she will eat is waxworms. I dust them with calcium & vitamins. The problem is that all the pet stores put them in the refrigerator & they can't tolerate the low temperature. Thaw them out & you have warm dead waxworms. Petco, PetSmart -- they both do the same thing. Why??!! Very frustrating!

Pros: gecko loves them

Cons: low temps kill them

Great for my gecko!

posted 4 years ago

Great! For the same size ( length ) as some mealworms, they give alot more nutrience! Just started using them the other day. I thought he would be a little confused but he ate them right up with no troubles. He loves them.

Pros: Great use becasue of the national mealworm shortage

Cons: 4.57 for a pack of 50 at PETCO
