I bought this can of shrimp thinking that it was freeze dried and got quite a surprise when I opened up the can. I was actually grossed out and made my boyfriend feed these to the turtles, but when he did they actually fought over it!! I have only had my turtles for a few months, but this is the first time I've ever seen them fight over food. It would be worth a shot to buy these to see if your turtle loves them as much as mine!

Many people wrongly assume that a pet food with a high protein level is automatically better for their pet. This is incorrect for two reasons. First, as described above, the quality of the protein is a critical factor - it doesn't matter if a food has a high percentage of protein if the protein comes from a less-digestible or less-usable source. Secondly, optimal protein levels for different life stages and activity levels vary. Senior pets generally require less protein than active adult pets; and active adult pets need less protein than younger animals. Look for a food that provides the optimum level of protein for your pet's particular life stage and activity. Otherwise, you'll feed your pet excess protein that will simply be converted into fat.

I gave these to my fish, and turtles, and they both seemed to enjoy them. They are picky, and when they eat it, it must be good.
