The dirt in most areas of the US are low in selenium so the grain and hay do not provide enough for goats. The grain is fortified so male goats and non-breeder does do OK. If a pregnant doe does not have enough in her system to pass on to the babies they can get white muscle disease after they are born. To prevent this supplement them with the selenium/vitamin E powder or gel before delivery.
Pros: to supplement hay
