Prescription Diet C/D for Dogs
posted 5 years ago
I think this is a good food since it has kept her kidney stones from returning. I did not want to put her on a daily med but I also did not want her to go through the pain of having them again. Under the advisement of our vet, we decided to take this approach and see if meds could be avoided. So far it has worked. She has not had a recurrance of her stones since and it was about 3-4 years ago. The down side is that she is very restricted with this diet. She can only have treats that are compatible with the food. This is very limited. Unfortunately, there are no other flavors available and she becomes bored with the food and sometimes refuses to eat it. So I do hope that some day this company will put out another flavor so we can alternate and prevent her from being so bored with her diet. All in all I would recommend this route to anyone who has a dog who has had this problem. She is doing very well and she doesn't have to have preventative meds.
Pros: Since my dog was prone to kindney stones and had them a few years back, this diet food has kept her from having them again and having to take a daily med to keep her ph levels where they should be.
Cons: It would be nice if it had different flavors.
