For Milk Fever in Cattle
posted 4 years ago
This is the standard treatment for milk fever in dairy cattle, so if you have a milk cow around your place, this is what you should keep on hand if your cow develops milk fever at freshening.
It's not hard to give a cow a bottle under the skin (around the upper shoulder area) and it can save a cow's life if they are starting to go down from MF. Full blown MF needs immediate attention to save a cow's life, and that has to be in the vein. Most people would probably feel more comfortable having a vet do this, but anyone can learn how to do it.
Pros: A lifesaver
Cons: Must use needles
