for problematic coats that are causing discomfort, Coal Tar Shampoo is definitely the way to go. I've seen it used plenty of times on problem dogs at the shelter i work at, and it always does the trick to clear up the problem. It doesn't smell wonderful, but it does its job extremely well so that's all that really matters! Love it.

We use this on a shelter cat name Fairy, it works good, she is allergic to feas and has little itchy bites on her back..makes her life more bearable.

Coal tar comes in a lot of products. I get the cheapest product out there, and it works great on the scalp. If this is relatively cheap, it's GOOD.

I used this on my dog when she first had allergy issues with fleas, it seemed to work real good until I got a handle on the flea problem.

Pros: easy to use, helps problem skin and coats

Cons: not the best smelling product
