Works okay, not as tough as the metal version

posted 5 years ago

I have used this plastic float valve for controlling the water level in my duck pond for a little over a year. The problem that I had was in the threads. For some time, I used a garden hose, which required me to occaisionally connect and disconnect the hose from the valve.

For the first year, it worked great. This fall, the threads wore out. Now, for a plastic valve that cost less than $12 and held up to 70 LB city water pressure constantly for a year, it was not a bad investment. The part that wore out was the threads, and I'm working with some PVC cement to see if I can put it back into a servicable condition as a backup. I did replace it with the aluminum version, model number TM830

Pros: Inexpensive, easy to use

Cons: Threads wear out
