Inexpensive Slicker brush

posted 5 years ago

This has been an essential grooming tool for a very long time. It is used on most long coated breeds (Collie for example) and those medieum to shorter coated ones with dense undercoat (Labs for example). You must use care not to scratch the dog's skin by using it with too much force. It comes in multiple sizes.

Some dog owners complain that their dogs shed for too long, even though they groom them they can never seem to get all of the hair out of the coat. I've found that the reason usually is that they are using the wrong tool (usually a pin brush). This is probably the best tool for getting all of that shed under coat out.

Pros: Inexpensive and essential tools for long coated dogs and cats

Cons: Can damage the skin if you push down too hard.
