Salifert has always had a good line of test kits, however they can be more expensive than the rest. Also keep in mind that phosphates have no immediate effect on fish (some other reviews say to keep the phosphates low for fish health). What they do is cause algae to grow (with proper lighting), which can even be good for fish!

Salifert makes the best test kits you can buy. Make sure you follow the directions exactly. If you do not test exactly the way the directions state you results will not be accurate. Also phosphate tests may not show what your phosphate levels really are. You may have pockets of very calm water where phosphate levels are very high.

this is a great way to test the levels in both your salt and fresh water tanks at home. however, it is not always 100% accurate and the best way to test your levels is to bring a water sample to your local fish store, and they will usually check it for free.

Always a good idea to test the water in your aquarium for potentially harmful chemicals and phosphorus is one of those. A good kit and very easy to use. Would recommend using it to test your aquarium every now and then.
