This is great for little dogs. Personally, I prefer the old fashioned lead for a big dog that can pull. This lead gives little control.

we love retractable leashes. i just recently went to florida and took my dogs to the beaches... i went a little bit in the ocean - had the leash on roofotop and i let her swim back altho she wasnt too happy about having to swim - lol - wont be doing that again - <3 these leashes

When I owned my rabbit, I used a harness and also this retractable lead for when I took him outside for fresh air. It worked out good to be able to keep good control of him since he jumped a good distance at one time, and this lead was long enough for that and then when I caught up with him, I was able to shorten up the lead quickly so it was not in my way.
