Junk Food

posted 5 years ago

Anyone who's serious about keeping small animals knows that Kaytee products have a terrible reputation, and for good reason. Sure, they look pretty with all those colored pieces, and the label promises that it's healthy and nutritious...But the ingredients say otherwise. This is basically junk food. Sure, your pets will love it, but it's not healthy. A main indicator is that it contains ethoxyquin, a preservative that's been linked to cancer in small animals. Additionally, the main ingredient is corn, which isn't too healthy for small animals because the low-grade corn found in small animal foods often contains fungus, which, as you would imagine, is very bad for small animals with sensitive systems.

So, on the plus side, your pet is pretty much guranteed to eat it. But on the other hand, with dangerous ingredients like ethoxyquin, is it really something you want your pet to be eating?

Pros: Small animals aren't likely to turn it down

Cons: Contains harmful ingredients

Love this food!

This is a great seed product for people that own hamsters! The food is always clean and smells fresh, we havent found any problems with the food at all and its very popular at the store I work at. I would definately use it again if I decide to get another hamster.

Pros: Great for hamsters!

Cons: none

Great pet food!

posted 5 years ago

I used this food for every small animal I have ever had since it's so good for them, alot of pocket pet's shouldn't have certain types of seed's and this makes the perfect solution, they don't get too picky with this great choice of food.

Pros: It's great for your pet and is healthy for them to eat

Cons: not a whole lot of different variety's

This is a great food!

I just recently got three gerbils. The workers at the shelter I got them from recommended this food. I went out and bought some and found that my gerbils love it!

Pros: My gerbils love it!

Cons: I can't think of any!
