This was the only food I could find that was over 12 or 14 percent protein in the pet store, but it's a great blend as well of seeds without the sunflower seeds that are fatty. It does contain pumpkin seeds but not too many (my gerbs love them). I bought this to feed a lactating gerbil and her weaning pups, so it's perfect (though you should still give a supplement to boost the protein up).

Pros: Higher protein content for growing/lactating gerbils and no sunflower seeds which could be fattening

Cons: Protein too high for older gerbils, since they need around 12 percent instead of 16.

My hamsters love this stuff, and it's quality ingredients with a pretty wide selection. It's still a good idea to let your hammys grab a little hammy nibble of a fresh carrot or random veggie every so often, but again this is more for keeping your hammys sane with new an interesting stuff than it is need for a wider nutritional base.

This is a great choice for Guinea Pigs. Some guineas prefer fewer nuts and seeds and for them I recommend the Ecotrition Essential Blend for Guinea Pigs. The premium brand is a favorite for my guinea and the added vitamin "Ester C" is something all guinea need.

My sons gerbil loves this food. I just wish small animal food came in plastic containers like some cat foods. The bags rip easy during opening and then you have gerbil food everywhere.
