The natural ingredients and eye-catching exteriors of Lafeber Nutri-Berries attract exotic birds.
June 29, 2010 1:17 pm | By Zootoo Editor Mary T.
From the mainstay bird food company Lafeber, the Nutri-Berries parrot food offers all of the nutrition of their full line of products. Although the food is not intended to replace full meals, the natural ingredients - such as canary seed, peanuts, and cracked corn - allow you to give this as a treat without feeling pangs of guilt.
Lafeber designs the Nutri-Berries to cut down on waste, claiming that 96% of the snack ends up in your bird's beak instead of littering the bottom of the cage. I found this number to be high, and picky eaters might leave even more of the treats aside. But leftovers can always be used for outdoor bird feeders, and it is true that this snack seems more appealing than similar products to even the most finicky of birds.
Although Lafeber's Nutri-Berries are not the cheapest bird treat on the market, the nutritional value and attention to keeping down waste makes this product worth the investment.
Pros: All natural ingredients and colorful textures make these treats appealing to exotic birds. And the food’s unique shape cuts down on waste.
Cons: Owners should be careful to make sure birds don’t consume exclusively for their daily diet—just as a special treat.

Gizzy likes Nutriberries but not as much as she likes nuts

a easy to feed treat and quick add in to the daily diet
not meant as a complete feed
put it in your emergency kit unopened of course
and you can give the crumbs to the squirrels :)
Gizzy Prefers Nutriberries classic
Pros: nice packaging easy to hold shape no ethoxyquin
Cons: messy Gizzy tires of them near the end of the bag

Great as a treat, too
posted 5 years ago
While this is marketed as a complete diet and a way to convert seed-eating parrots over to pellets, Nutriberries also make an excellent snack/treat for parrots. My parrot usually gets one special treat a day, and it's often a Nutriberry. She loves these, and gets incredibly excited when she sees the familiar Nutriberries tub. The nice thing is, I feel like I'm being a good "pet parent" by giving her a treat that I can trust is also nutritional.
Pros: Very readily accepted
Cons: A bit messy
