Prevents My Rabbit from Chewing Electrical Wires
posted 5 years ago
I initially purchased CritterCord to prevent my rabbit from chewing on electrical wires. I was very pleased with the product, so I also used it when I puppy-proofed our home last year. The CritterCord is clear plastic tubing that has a slit on one side where the electrical wire is inserted. The CritterCord is only large enough to hold one regular-sized (thickness) electrical wire. It is citrus infused, which is supposed to deter pets from chewing on the Critter Cord. My rabbit took one nibble out of our CritterCord and he obviously didn't like the taste because he never touched it again. If that wire had not been covered by CritterCord, our bunny might have been electrocuted if he bit directly into the wire. He did manage to take a bite out of the plastic, as it is flexible, but it still kept his teeth from reaching the wire. I believe that this company also makes a Micro version of this product now, which is suitable for thinner wires (speakers, telephone, etc.).
Pros: Clear plastic, easy to use, citrus infused to repel pets from wires
Cons: Hard to find in stores---Had to order online
