Great, low-cost boots

posted 6 years ago

I purchased these boots to use on my barefoot horses when we went trail riding on rocky terrain. My horses are only accustomed to flat, clay/sand-based terrain, so I wanted to protect their feet from stone bruises. Initially, I was a little skittish about these boots because I didn't think they would stay on. But, they managed to stay on quite well. You just have to cinch up the strap good and tight. I did not have any trouble with them getting pulled off during a ride. Boy, was I glad to have them on some of the steeper climbs. They provided good traction. My only complaint was that they will rub a raw spot on the back of the pastern with prolonged use. I solved this problem by wrapping some vet wrap around my horse's pastern before I put his boots on. I am sure a polo wrap would also work.

Pros: Affordable price, durability, good traction

Cons: If worn frequently, then can rub the back of the pasterns

Okay, but I prefer Boa Boots

posted 6 years ago

We originally had Davis boots for one of our horses, but when we discovered how much easier Boa Boots were to put on and take off, we switched.

Pros: Fit well

Cons: Not as easy to put on and take off as Boa Boots
