National Pet Registry -- Registers Many Kinds of Microchips

posted 4 years ago

Two of my cats and my dog are registered with InfoPET. This is a great service and I highly recommend it -- I actually think they were the first national microchip company. They operate a National Pet Registry Hotline 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. If your pet is registered with InfoPET and a shelter or humane society contacts them (after scanning the chip), InfoPET will be in touch with you right away.

It's a nominal fee -- a $25 one-time fee for your first pet and a discounted price for additional pets. They also have a website that allows you to update your information -- if you've moved, or you want to change the folks you've identified as emergency contacts, etc.

InfoPET also includes an ID tag that you can put on your animal's collar.

Pros: In Business Since 1998

Good idea

posted 4 years ago

These products are great, and extremely helpful in locating lost pets. The only problem though is that while one scanner will recognize one or two different brands of chips, there is not a single scanner available that I know of that will recognize all the different chips. Therefore it would be very easy for a lost pet to be scanned and no chip found even though it is right there. Hopefully a manufacturer will remedy this problem in the near future.

Pros: Very helpful in locating lost pets

Cons: so many different companies, and scanners do not recognize all of them

Great product!

I love this as it helps to keep track of your pet should they "get away" from you....I've never had that happen, but if it should I am registered with them for all my babies!

Pros: keeps track of your pets

Cons: none

Microchips are good for any pet that goes out. My cat doesn't but I know other people who have used these microchips for safety.

Pros: good for safety
