this was one of my favorite books as a kid i kept all my life. when it finally fell apart i replaced it with this. iwill always have back beauty in the books that will never be thrown out or put into storage. it is wanderful for kids and adults too. and it takes me back to my childhood where black beauty was one of my favorites and this does not dissapoint

Hell as a kid I loved this book, i mean hell this would have been the second book I read in 1st grade by myself. Mind you this was not out of memory. it was enthralling as a child of 6 to read this and be amazed at what a horse could possibly think.

Pros: Kept my intrest as a child and even made me appreciate the finess of a realistic story.

Cons: it seemed to me that not enough people were drawn to it due to its lack of dramatic plot, I found it lacking a sense of knowledge for the age group it was targeted for

I read lots of these books as a kid. They are all great! I hope my kids will enjoy them too.
