Barbaro: The Horse Who Captured America's Heart

I read this book and cried the entire time. Barbaro was truely a horse loved by a nation. It really gave you an inside look at what was being done to help this horse. We all had high hopes for his full recovery. Unfortunately it didn't happen.

This beautiful book is 189 pages with most containing photographs that chronicle his life. He was expected to be the first Triple Crown winner in 33 years, but it was not to be. Barbaro made a misstelp just after leaving the gate shattering his right hind leg. The book ends shortly before he had to be euthanized due to complications form laminitis. The back few pages list racing information and a copy of his pedigree.
