Underdogs: Beauty Is More Than Fur Deep

So who doesn't love an underdog? Volunteer at a shelter, we often band together for those dogs that just otherwise don't get a chance or aren't perfect. Dratfield has captured very cute images of these dogs in his book. It's a tiny book, not as large as some of his others. But it's packed with cute pictures (again white, brown, and black tones), and inspiring quotes on each page. Great coffee table book.

A short book of dog photographs--a handful of purebreds, but mostly mutts. The photographer indicates in his introduction that he didn't want to take pictures of the 'glamour' breeds so often featured. Most of his dogs photos are of mutts and they are adorable. All photos are in black and white and each photograph has an accompanying quote from some famous person (which seems to be all the rage in dog/cat gift books lately). I would have loved to see more information on the dogs--what breeds they think they might be, etc.

Pros: Fun photographs

Cons: Would prefer 'biographical' information on the dogs to the quotes
