Common Birds of North America Midwest Edition, An Expanded Guidebook, written and illustrated by James D. Wilson and published by Willow Creek Press is one of my favorite bird books. The illustrations are charming (this book could be enjoyed for its art alone), and the narratives are wonderfully written. The book limits its coverage to 90 of the most-common species that are common throughout the Midwest and all the way to the Canadian border. It is packed full of helpful information but at the same time is readable and appealing to the average non-scholar bird lover.

another book in my collection of bird and animal boks. it is a beautiful book with great pics and full of good info about the birds. for anyone who has the need for or collects them this is a great book and you can learn a lot from it. i recomend it highly

No matter where you live in North America and the fact that birds travel further than we sometimes realize, when your birding your backyard or in the wilderness this book will help you identify the ones that stop only once in a while.
