WellSolve L/S SAVED my laminitis horse!!
posted 4 years ago
My Swedish warmblood was diagnosed with Laminitis due to EMS (Equine Metabolic Syndrome), almost 9 months ago. He needed to lose at LEAST 100 Lbs, preferrably MORE...
With L/S, combined with soaking his hay, I was able to get rid of all that extra fat on him. Unbelievable, as I have always tried to make him loose weight, he is an easy keeper and could live off of air... Now, loosing all that weight (probably around 200Lbs) WITHOUT excercise (as he was on stall rest for the first 4-5 months) was a miracle in it self, and I have to give credit to the L/S! My horse was happy, because he still GOT GRAIN and never really felt like he was on a DIET...
WellSolve L/S is based on alfalfa and beetpulp, VERY little sugar & starch, and horses LIKE the taste...even "picky" ones - I have tried it on my VERY picky one too, and he wouldn't mind eating it as well - but he gets Ultium, which is also low starch, but has more fat in it.
THANK YOU Purina, for creating this feed and making it availble at my Purina dealer!!!
Pros: Weight loss, but still getting "grain"
Cons: A bit pricey ($29/bag)...but WORTH IT!!

Great for Miniatures
posted 4 years ago
My Miniature had a bout of founder in the fall and the vet put him on Purina WellSolve. He had done very well on it. He likes it and has had no further problems with his feet. I now have all my animals on this low carb feed and it seems to work well for all of them.
Pros: expensive
Cons: works well for founder prone animals

Good low starch food for horses
posted 4 years ago
This is a really good food for horses that have any sort of sensitivity to starch and may get worked up or get foot issues. We fed this at two farms that I worked at in high school. Its a really good quality feed.
Pros: great for horses
Cons: none
