Well... this food comes highly recommended by pet professionals so it must be good right? Since day one I've been mixing it with a little organic dry food as well. From what I've gathered the biggest difference between kitten food and adult food is the fat content. Kittens need more of the fatty stuff for growth. Well, our kitten has done just fine with the mix. Her food is usually mixed with Castor and Pollux adult feline food. I have not been able to find a Castor and Pollux dry kitten food. I've also tried "Nature Organics" or something like that.

We understand that just because its organic doesn't make it good, so we keep our selves very informed as to nutritional value. Anyways... this food seems to be good for kittens, but we really don't know anything else as far as trying kitten foods. Healthy and happy kittens make for a system that seems to work. :)

I began using Royal Canin Kitten food when I rescued a 3 wk old kitten (who is now a beautiful adult Pumpkin). She was so tiny and didn't have teeth. At first I fed her canned food but within a couple of weeks I transitioned her to this food. The pieces were so small and they were easy for my Pumpkin to chew or swallow. I felt confident that I was providing my growing kitten with quality nutrition.

Being a foster home for the Acadiana Humane Society / Cat Ranch, we've fostered quite a few orphaned kittens. When the kittens are old enough to be weaned, we mix a little KMR powder with warm water and mix some of the dry Royal Cain kitten food in it. The dry food becomes a little moist, and all the kittens we've had love eating it this way!

Pros: small size suitable for little kittens, taste

Cons: can be a bit pricey, but worth it if you have a lot of kittens

While my kitten does accept this food, particularly when mixed with his favorite dry food (Natural Balance), it's just too expensive for me to buy regularly. The only reason we tried it is because I scored a coupon for a free bag. It's considered the best premium brand around, but it's just not economical for folks like me.

Pros: It's a highly-touted cat food offering excellent nutrition.

Cons: It's very expensive.

My kitten enjoys the taste of this, but I don't think it's the best out there for her. I'm planning on switching her to Wellness, (which is what my puppy eats).

There are unhealthy additives in this, and the labels should tell you all you need to know.

Pros: good taste, medium expense, easy to find in stores.

Cons: not the healthiest food.
