One of my cats has been recently diagnosed with diabetes and I am always in the market for low carb high protein nutritious food for him. So we tried Nutro Max Gourmet Classics Oceanfish Formula. Was impressed by all the protein sources. First six ingredients: Fish Broth, Cod, Beef Liver, Turkey, Chicken, Beef. Followed by Rice, Bran, Ground Rice (could do without thoe), Guar Gum, Methionine (?), Potassium Chloride, Salt, Sodium Ascorbate (Source of Vitamin C), other added vitamins and minerals and unfortunately choline chloride (an organic compound and important additive for chicken where it accelerates growth). All in all I like the protein and fat and don't like the carbs and additive or two. As far as taste is concrerned the cat that I bought it for was not very happy with it, but my other cat gobbled it right up.

Pros: Good Source of Protein

Cons: Pricey - Takes Some Getting Used To

5.5 oz size is enough to split amongst the cats for a light breakfast. No by-products and few additives. Made in the US. 2 out of 3 cats thinks this is great. Main ingredients are chicken broth (don't like that that is the main ingredient), cod, chicken, turkey and beef liver. Not crazy about the turkey component.

My cats don't usually like the type of food with chunks and gravy, but they like several of the flavors of Nutro MAX CAT Gourmet Classics. In my experience, avoid the Seafood Bisque, Beef and Egg, and New Orleans Jambalaya. I have 4 cats and none of them would eat these flavors.

Pros: variety of flavors

Cons: several flavors don't seem to be pallatable to cats
