Feline Urinary Syndrome - This food saved my cat's life!
posted 5 years ago
My cat, Max, was diagnosed with Feline Urinary Syndrome and blockage of his urethra due to crystal formations from this disease. He was less than a year old when this began. He became very sick and lethargic, and was urinating everywhere except in his litter box.
After 2 visits to the Emergency Vet, he was diagnosed properly and I was referred to a terrific Vet who treated Max for his symptoms and then recommended that he follow a strict diet of the Hills Prescription C/D food. He informed me that over the counter food usually contained too much ash and added to the formation of crystals in the urine.
Within a month or so, Max was feeling so much better and he completely recovered. He was back to being that playful little kitty I had come to love so much.
It has now been 4 years, and Max is still eating the C/D diet and loves it. He has been healthy and happy and symptom-free for all these years. No more accidents outside the litter box either.
He loves the taste of the dry C/D, as well as the moist C/D food. The fact that this food is a "prescription " diet means that I can only buy it at the Vet's office and it is a little pricey, for sure. But paying for surgeries and frequent vet bills are so much more of an expensive, if you think about it!
I wouldn't trust my cat's health to anything else!!
Pros: No more emergency vet visits due to urinary crystals!
Cons: a little pricey

The right food for bladder and urinary tract
posted 4 years ago
Our Gabe developed large stones in his bladder (with the aid of X-rays) two and a half years ago after being diagnosed with what the vet thought was urinary tract infections. He had surgery to remove the stones and was placed on the C/D diet, which he has been on ever since. Gabe is over 5 and has been doing well since. Our other cat, the fabulous Buster, also eats this food and is doing well. The C/D recipe was changed a while back to C/D Mulitcare, which treats both kinds of urinary crystals.
Pros: Helps to maintain a healthy urinary tract
Cons: 10 pound bag expensive; better to purchase the 20 pound bag

Urinary help in a food
posted 5 years ago
this is a great food if your cat is prone to urinary infections. Struvite crystals, and oxilate (sp) can cause extreme pain (block males) and this food is really good after a diagnosis is made by your vet.
Pros: helps control urinary stones
Cons: vet sold only

Does the job
posted 4 years ago
We've used this when our male cats developed urinary blockages from commercial foods. Switching to this, and then easing into a special commercial formula, solved the problem.
Pros: helps with urinary problems
Cons: none
