...And Now They Like It!

posted 5 years ago

The first time I offered this to my cats, they didn't show any interest. In fact, none of them would even taste it.

After I adopted KeyZo, I tried again. He used to only eat dry catfood, but began eating (regular) Fancy Feast, and then the Elegant Medleys--but he was the only Z-Boy who would.

I kept trying, sometimes wasting the food and other times seeing that at least some of my cats (mostly KeyZo) would eat it. Tonight, Zac, KeyZo, Chetzer, and Skizzy went berserk over it. I don't know why and I can't explain the inconsistency in their tastes.

Some cats just don't like change and refuse to try a catfood, even though it is "supposed" to be good or even excellent. Maybe their taste buds change over time and/or they like variety after years of eating the same thing.

I think each cat will decide for him- or herself if s/he likes the Elegant Medleys!

Pros: Apparently tasty; Contains Garden Greens

Cons: A Bit Pricey; Cats Don't Consistently Like It

Cleaned His Dish

posted 5 years ago

Well from my cat's point of view this is a good product. Even though it is expensive I tried a couple of varities because my finicky older cat was acting like he was "sick and tired" of regular fare. From "his mother's" point of view I am not that happy with it. Look at the first ten ingredients: Fish Broth (OK), Tuna (Good), Wheat Gluten (an inexpensive form of protein), Liver (OK), Meat By-Products (UG), Chicken (OK), Spinanch (OK I guess, but why?), Corn Starch (?), Artificial & Natural Flavors (we don't like artificial), Calcium Phosphate (a family of minerals used in production of fertilizers. Is also a raising agent and nutritional supplement used to prevent and to treat calcium deficiencies). Although I think that Purina can do better, based on the fact that my cat licked his dish clean I am giving this product a rating of 3.

Pros: Tasty to Cat - No Odor - Nice Texture

Cons: Artificial Colors and Flavors - By-Products - Pricey

I have 3 cats and they love this food. They eat less and walk away with a full belly. Eating less means pooping less and less litter. All around a great choice for my cats.
