Fancy Feast White Meat Chicken Appetizer satisfies cats with a meaty flavor.

November 3, 2011 4:24 am | By Zootoo Editor Flinn D.

The White Meat Chicken Appetizer by Fancy Feast, part of the brand’s extensive line of Appetizers for Cats, comes in a nifty, hard plastic container that is easy to shove in a bag or your pocket for a road trip or weekend away. Am I the only person who thinks taking cats on the road is cool? That isn’t weird or anything, right?

Anywho, back to the White Meat Chicken Appetizer. The base, obviously, is chicken, and what’s surprising is how little else the folks over at Fancy Feast have opted to put in this dish. The ingredients list only water and white chicken meat, along with xantham and guar gum. So after looking at the rather spartan ingredients, it was with tepid enthusiasm I put it in front of our tester cat.

Simply put, she loved it, which proves that sometimes, simple is better. If chicken and water and a couple preservatives are all you need to hit it out of the park with a cat food, why put anything else in? Another aspect of Fancy Feast’s White Meat Chicken Appetizer that I like is that the snack comes in a cool, easy-to-recycle container. When you’re done, just slip the cardboard sleeve off, peel back the top and serve – the pieces come ready to be recycled.

Bottom line? As anyone can see from the list of ingredients, preservatives and additives have been kept at a minimum — and cats appreciate the simple taste of the meaty flavor.

Pros: Few additives; cats love the taste; convenient packaging.

Cons: None.

Chetzer Thought It Was GOOD

posted 4 years ago

Although Chetzer, Zac, and KeyZo came to see what I had, only Chetzer was interested in the "White Meat Chicken & Shredded Beef" Appetizer. (KeyZo and Zac smelled it and walked away.)

This Appetizer, like the others, has limited ingredients. The first ingredient, however, is WATER, followed by chicken and beef. Considering its contents and price, I would have expected all cats to be very attracted to it, but that wasn't the case.

These Appetizers are good for an occasional treat (or "supplement"), but not as a "main meal".

Pros: Limited Ingredients; No by-products or fillers

Cons: A Bit Pricey ($1.25+ For 2 Ounces)
