Our Claude has skin issues. Which we found out is normal for Shih-tzus. He scratched all the time. I read an article on these dogs developing food allergies. So I went to my neighborhood Petco, and met a very informative employee. I was going to purchase IAMS. This employee told me that on his list of dog food he would recommend, IAMS was about number five, with one being the best. Let me tell you, I am so glad I listened to him. Claude absolutely loves Shih-tzu 24. Even my daughters cat wouldn't stay out of it! Anyway, he doesn't scratch hardly at all now. And his coat is so shiny and soft. It's small, round pellets are perfect for Claude. The downside is that it is expensive. At our Petco, for a 3 lb bag its 19.88. But if it helps our Claude, then we pay it. Also, as an FYI, I checked for a manufacturer's website to see if I purchased directly from there, it would be cheaper. They have a website, but give you a list of dealers to purchase the food. They don't sell it directly.

My shih tzu is super picky. He was on a home cooked diet, but stopped eating it. I tried a lot of things, including chick fil a, but he likes this food and it's actual good for him. I love that it is specially formulated for shih tzus.

Pros: My dogs eat it! He is SUPER picky, but cleans his bowl of this.

Cons: It doesn't smell that great.

My dog loves this food. She's a fussy eater but really enjoys the shih-tzu food. The bites are small and really help clean her teeth. She digests this very well and it has made her coat much shinier.

Pros: Small bites, easy to chew for tiny dogs

Cons: A little more expensive than others

Tia and Tucker love this food. They are typically fussy eaters but have not tired of this food. I'm glad I found food they like because it keeps me from giving them people food.

Pros: Good tasting and easy to digest. Best of all they love it.

Cons: I think it has an odd scent.

Cinnamon thinks of it as a bowl of treats, because it is also the reward she gets, in single bites, for doing her tricks!

Pros: I don't have to 'dress up' the food .

Cons: She would over-eat if I let her.
