Complete and Balanced Diet Recommended for Small Breed Dogs (up to 20 lbs.) Prone to Obesity 10 Months of Age and Older Fat Assimilation: Efficient use of available energy by the overweight small breed adult. To lose weight correctly, a small breed dog must stimulate the use of its fat reserves. A well balanced diet with higher protein and reduced fat levels may help promote an appropriate weight level, allowing for necessary mobilization of energy reserves without reducing muscle tone. L-carnitine, an amino acid found in meat protein, may play an active role in the metabolization of fat reserves and may help prevent additional weight gain. Muscle Mass: Reduce the calories while preserving muscle mass. To prevent excess weight gain and return to an ideal weight, a small breed dog needs a low calorie food that is still just as tasty. The food should be rich in proteins to enable the dog to lose weight while preserving the muscle mass. The reduced fat content (11%) and the high protein content (30%) help limit weight gain while maintaining the muscle mass. Antioxidant Vitamins E & C: Anticipates the effects of time for the small breed adult dog. When they are in good health, small breed dogs have a longer life expectancy (average of 15 years), which means additional exposure to the effects of aging. Beginning in adulthood, it is important to provide a diet that may help delay the effects of time, such as kidney and heart function and dental problems. Polyphenols, found in green tea and grapes, and antioxidant vitamins C and E, found in capsicum and paprika, may help fight free radicals. Optimal phosphorus and sodium contents may help maintain kidney and heart function. Great product

posted 5 years ago

We tried this food for Tucker since he tends to be a little overweight. He really enjoys it and likes the smaller pieces. He does tend to get pickey with his food, but for now, he is enjoying it.

Pros: Great texture

Cons: Pricey

I have 3 cats and they love this food. They eat less and walk away with a full belly. Eating less means pooping less and less litter. All around a great choice for my cats.
