Dog won't eat it

posted 5 years ago

My dog will not eat this. He gets a mouthful and spits it right out. The reason he lost weight is because he didn't eat!

Pros: supports weight loss

Cons: unpalatable

THE ONLY product for overweight dogs

posted 5 years ago

This is the only prescription weight loss product I have ever recommended in 10 years as a veterinary technician. It works, plain and simple. Purina guarantees their foods to be palatable and most dogs will readily eat this. This is the go to product for truly obese dogs (Purina Fit N Trim will work for dogs just starting to cross the obese line and as a maintenance diet but is not made to significantly reduce weight) OM allows dogs to eat a sizable volume so they feel full and are not perpetually hungry. I find this product for more successful than Hills R/D and dogs seem to like this one much better. If you follow your vet's recommendations for feeding, your dog will lose weight....period. Purina provides vets with a computer program so you can track your pet's progress and your vet can adjust amounts of food so that the diet is completely tailored to your individual dog. Owner compliance is the con to this diet - if you switch a table fed dog to any dog food, particularly a "diet food" they will likely snub it at first - OWNERS!!!! BE STRONG! Your dog will give in and eat it eventually - you cannot give in to the sad begging eyes! Bring your dog in for the recommended weigh ins so that your vet can adjust the amount of food as needed. Remember, it is for their own good!

Pros: This WORKS, period! Low waste output compared to other wt loss diets. Guaranteed by Purina, most dogs readily eat it

Cons: Non Owner Compliance!
